Jay Archer to function president of NC Pork Council


4 new members elected to Board of Administrators

RALEIGH (February 17, 2025) — Jay Archer of Tarboro, a sow farm supervisor with Smithfield Hog Manufacturing, has been elected to function president of the NC Pork Council Board of Administrators. Josh Coombs of Clinton will function vice chairman; Lorenda Overman of Goldsboro will function secretary/treasurer; and Jennifer Daniels of Autryville will proceed to offer management and steerage to the Board of Administrators as previous president.

“Jay grew up across the pork business and has a deep understanding of the challenges and alternatives going through our business,” stated Roy Lee Lindsey, CEO of the NC Pork Council. “He has been a robust advocate for our farmers and I’m excited in regards to the management, enthusiasm, and dedication he brings to our Board of Administrators.”

Archer was raised on a household farm in Wayne County. After graduating from Wayne Group Faculty with a level in agribusiness, he labored with Maxwell Meals in North Carolina after which helped the corporate develop its operations in Indiana. He returned to North Carolina 14 years in the past to work with Smithfield.
