Final Sunday, 9 February, Dana Nesiti noticed motion underneath her breast feathers and patiently waited till her owlet appeared to take this pohoto. Are you able to see its little beak poking out underneath her white collar?

Incubation for great-horned owls (Bubo virginianus) lasts 30-37 days, averaging 33 days, so if this owlet hatched on Saturday 8 February, its egg was laid round 6 January. Andy Georgeson’s commentary helps this timing, too.
Nice horned owlets are of their nestling part for 42 days. This one will most likely stroll off the nest (“branching”) on or round 22 March.
We’re going to have 6 weeks of Very good Owlet(s)!
