Partnering with the Marchig Animal Welfare Belief – TEARS

TEARS Animal Rescue is among the main organisations within the sterilisation and administration of Feral Cats within the Western Cape, and our Feral Cat Challenge goals to cut back feral cat populations and improve the lives of feral cat colonies by way of a Lure-Neuter-Return (TNR) programme. TNR represents an efficient answer for feral cats by stabilising colonies, bettering the cats’ wellbeing and saving lives by way of veterinary care and sterilisations. Schooling can also be essential to enlighten affected individuals about the advantages of feral colonies in society, and the necessity for cats to stay of their colonies, and never be exterminated, however somewhat sterilised and monitored.

The Marchig Animal Welfare Belief in Scotland has been supporting TEARS since 2001, offering Grants for our initiatives, and in 2007 granted funding for the institution of our Feral Cat Sterilisation Clinic on Wenga Farm, which can also be residence to our rescued cats. At our two registered clinics, we sterilise roughly 250 feral cats a month, and, with the assistance of volunteers, monitor and feed numerous feral cats of their colonies.

An additional beneficiant Grant from The Marchig Belief obtained not too long ago for our Feral Cat Challenge, will allow us to maintain our important programme, serving to to alleviate the struggling of cats, by way of sterilisation and monitoring of the ever-increasing variety of feral colonies and group cats (free roaming cats in susceptible communities). Probably the most welcome reward will allow us to:

🐾 Sterilise 1 920 cats, in addition to offering parasite management and rabies vaccinations
🐾 Randomly take a look at compromised cats for feline aids and leukaemia
🐾 Preserve our Feral Cat Challenge automobile on the highway, by way of funding for our gas prices

We’re most pleased with our affiliation with The Marchig Animal Welfare Belief, (www.marchigtrust.org) and intensely grateful for this additional Grant, which can make a significant distinction to the lives of so many feral cats within the Western Cape.
