23 July 2025

On 13 July I launched our journey to Finland with pictures from 2017 so this time I took related pictures for comparability. Some issues modified and a few stayed the identical.

The largest change was the climate. On our final go to we wore jackets a lot of the day however this time we wore summer season garments. With lows within the higher 60s and highs at 80°F+ it was dry, very sunny, and felt sizzling. Local weather change has introduced Finland sizzling, dry climate this 12 months whereas North American mid-latitudes are having warmth and heavy downpours. The Finnish Meteorological Service issued Average to Extreme Excessive Temperature warnings throughout our complete go to.

Whereas in Helsinki we handed by the Lutheran Cathedral on the tram however didn’t go to it (too sizzling!) As you may see it’s beneath wraps because it undergoes facade upkeep. Examine this to what it often seems like (click on right here).

To beat the warmth in Helsinki many individuals went strolling, operating or biking within the early morning at Töölönlahti Park. Just a few went out on bay among the many barnacle geese. I counted 200 geese spending their summer season flightless interval on the park.

At Rikkavesi lake we stayed within the visitor cottage as we had eight years in the past. Erkki and his younger grandson painted it pink with white trim just a few years in the past. (see it brown on this related picture from 2017)
