Every week in the past at Cape Cod I used to be birding with Bob Kroeger alongside Navigation Street in Barnstable once we popped out at this stunning salt marsh scene on the finish of the highway.

I took the purple foliage without any consideration till I received shut. Glasswort’s succulent leaves present the clue that it thrives in saline habitats. In spring and summer season this plant is inexperienced so I most likely didn’t discover it. In October it turns a lovely purple. I believe that is Virginia glasswort (Salicornia virginica).

I’d been telling my sister-in-law concerning the crows that roost in Pittsburgh within the winter and she or he stated, “You should see our cormorants.” As sundown approached we adopted the bike trial to the Bass River in South Dennis and located 300 double-crested cormorants with extra coming in on a regular basis. I’ve heard that individuals aren’t joyful that the birds roost on the wires over the river, however that is definitely a case of build-it-and-they-will-come.
