21 March 2025

UPDATE: I WAS WRONG! Carla laid her third egg a lot sooner than I initially thought. It was earlier than 2:07am on 21 March 2025.

I had anticipated Carla to put her third egg final night nevertheless it took an extended than anticipated. As early as 8pm she regarded like she was prepared to put it (under), nevertheless it didn’t occur till this morning at 2:07 am (above).

At 5:40am I noticed Carla corral the clutch, bob her physique to show her brood patch, and lay down along with her again feathers standing up a bit, as proven within the video under. It seems to be to me like she’s begun incubation. (You’ll be able to hear Ecco whining within the background.)

Hatch Day needs to be 33-35 days from now –> 23 to 25 April. Within the meantime we’ll be watching The Large Sit on the falconcam for greater than a month.

As I mentioned earlier, there’s all the time a risk that I’ve missed one thing and miscalculated the dates … and certain sufficient I’ve already needed to make a correction.

p.s. Right here’s a greater have a look at the three eggs with Ecco standing subsequent to them.
